A series of art works, small sized. Collage out of painted and (mono)printed paper using acrylic paint. Subseries: silly landscapes, abstracts. During lockdown in early 2020 I started these collages. Small as I could only work at home. They are meant to be uplifting for maker and viewer. Also called wabi sabi collages: they were made intuitively, accepting the beauty of imperfection. The process was meant to be mostly fast and intuitive.

Silly landscape in summer

2020

Landscapes kept returning in the imagery of this series. By summer of 2021 the images were more of a walk in the summer sun and watching the kites fly. Lockdown collage #58. The idea of lockdown collages was: - I make art regularly - - I can do it at home with small bits of monoprint paper - painted papers. - The base on which to play with collage (almost) always an A5 card stock; - I work in a wabi sabi manner - to play, work intuitively and not strive for perfection.

In the series Silly landscapes this is one I really loved - loved making it and loved the result. SOLD. A friend loved it too. So it has gone to a new home where it hangs on his lovely art wall.

Abstract in red

2021

One of the first lockdown collages.  The first few pieces I had to start making painted paper. As lockdown felt awful - I wanted colors to cheer me up. I worked with texture on the gelli plate and printed papers in warm colors (yellows, reds and oranges). For this one- the cut piece of abstract texture felt like it was enough as is. It needed nothing but itself, cut loosely to fit the backing. Like the red piece - this one didn't seem to need anything - it was enough as is. A lovely piece of textured color - or colored texture. Cut loosely to fit the backing. Lockdown collages # I started a series of small collages of painted paper in March of 2020 - meaning to make a series of collages - to get me through the lockdown that had just started in the Netherlands. At first I called them 'cards'. I put the first 10 online - for a donation. And almost all of them were claimed. Most people told me they thought it was much more than 'a card' - and added extra to their donation. After a while I called them small art and later on 'lockdown collages'..   The idea of the series of lockdown collages was: - I make art regularly -every day if I can; - I can do it at home with small bits of monoprint paper - painted papers - using artist quality paint and other paints. - The base on which to play with collage (almost) always an A5 card stock; - I work in a wabi sabi manner - to play, work intuitively and not strive for perfection.
