Can't you see?
2023Charcoal on drawing paper. Size: 30 by 40 cm / 11 by 16 inch (approximately). I shared the drawing online and asked for help finding a title. I was surprised at the diversity of associations and feelings people experienced looking at it. one of them talked about a summer scene with the woman wearing the scarf for the breeze, others had more dark associations with pain and sorrow.
Adventurous
2023Series of charcoal drawings of (early) 2023. I'm starting to look for adventure in how I use the charcoal and other tools to take risks. The risk here: I work in layers of charcoal. Applying, drawng and erasing. I scrape it down in between layers.
Robust
2023Charcoal on drawing paper.
Lost in thought
2023Charcoal on drawing paper. After a photo reference. When drawing after a reference I often try to keep a balance between realism / likeness and creating an atmosphere and/or expressiveness. Sometimes realism takes the upper hand, sometimes it's more the expression. The challenge is to get both in.

2021Charcoal drawing on paper. A3 size. Drawing from memory. Fascinated by the girl that played chess in a popular Netflix series. I drew several portraits of video stills and photos found online.
