Painting in oil - using a method that is ascribed to the painters of the age of Rembrandt - using only oil paint and a mixture of natural materials to paint. I learned this method in the studio of Mieke Siemons in Vianen. One time in a course - she allowed us to pick our own subject and approach - making the course a bit like an open studio. We had been making portraits of her mom (drawings and paintings) earlier. From these open studio sessions and other influences I painted several portraits.
At least a year later I went back to the photos and drawings and made a new portrait in oils. But as I used several photos and drawings - the resulting portrait shifted away from a true likeness or exact copy of the photos used.
